Rooftop Restructuring
For several years we had been in contact with the owner of a hotel, and were assured that they understood cell sites and leasing. The hotel was subsequently sold, and within a month we received a phone call from the new owner indicating that there was a leak in two rooms directly under one of the antenna installations.
Upon investigation, the water was pooling around the new privacy screens that had been installed directly next to the rooftop hotel sign. The screens hadn't been installed in a water-tight manner, leading to leaking. Looking into why the water was pooling, it was discovered that the most recent structural analysis had many assumptions that were incorrect, leading to a potential overloaded situation.
As the project developed, much more information was uncovered, leading to a complete reconfiguration of the rooftop, and a centralization of the wireless equipment, fully supported by structural upgrades. The new installation was designed to allow maintenance to the roof by the property owner, and upgrades to the cellular equipment over time.
